About Aged Care Channel
ACC's founders Andrew Ricker and Paul Bennett developed the art of interactive satellite television back in the 1980's, having set up TV training networks for doctors and pharmacists in Australia. Almost 10 years ago they turned their focus to the Elderly Care sector with a simple vision: quality of care for seniors could be transformed by making TV programmes that engage with care staff, inform them about best practice and inspire them to strive for better outcomes.
When Andrew and Paul launched ACC in Sydney back in 2003, this winning formula was enthusiastically embraced by the Australian care sector, where two in every three care homes are now ACC members.
The success of the channel in Australia impressed leaders in the UK care home sector who invited the Australian team to set up a British version. Andrew and his wife Jill moved to the UK in early 2009 and ACC was launched as a UK pilot to prove the power of the service. Early recognition from the National Skills Academy for Social Care was achieved and ACC soon achieved a solid founding membership.
Now under the leadership of CEO Dave Marsh, ACC serves some two hundred care providers and is set to bring the channel to whole of the UK care home sector, giving every organisation the opportunity to turn a vision of better care into a reality for residents.
